Fans of halloumi rejoice - a kit to make your own version of the popular Cypriot cheese is on sale now.

Available to buy online at Selfridges, The Big Cheese Making Kit is the ultimate foodie treat and costs £22.50. And, quite frankly, we'll happily spend all our money on it.

Fully vegetarian-friendly, The Big Cheese Making Kit includes everything you need to make your own halloumi during these times of lockdown and it only takes a few hours from start to finish.

Plus, it could even come in handy if a halloumi shortage occurs.

The kit contains vegetarian rennet, organic sea salt and dried mint, so there's only one fresh ingredient that cheese lovers need to stock up on.

The only thing missing from this fun kit is gold top milk, a full fat milk with a creamier consistency than ordinary milk and rich in vitamins and minerals, made from Jersey or Guernsey cows.

A Selfridges spokesperson said: "This simple kit from The Big Cheese Making Kit contains everything you need to make fresh, delicious halloumi in less than three hours."

"The set includes all but one of the flavourings and ingredients you need; all you have to buy in addition is gold top milk."

If you'd much prefer to stick with other cheeses, however, or stock up on more than one (we won't judge!), then the kits don't just stop at halloumi.

Other cheesemaking kits in the same range include goat's cheese, Scottish crowdie - a creamy cheese traditionally served with oatcakes, a Mediterranean option with five different varieties of Mediterranean cheeses and a vegan cheese making kit.

Creator Ailsa, the name behind The Big Cheese Making Kits, was inspired to make her kits when she saw a celebrity chef making yogurt and wondered if the same could be done with cheese.

After researching into the process of making cheese, Ailsa found that it was a fairly simple process and wanted to share the joy with other people.

She said: "I became hooked on making cheese and wanted other people to feel the same."

"I was always pleased by people's reactions when they came for lunch and I had made cheese. They couldn't believe I'd made it myself and said they wanted to try it too."

"And so, after lots of trial and error, lots of focus groups, hundreds of pints of milk and countless recipe edits later... The Big Cheese Making Kit was born."

Now the brand has seven different kits and is sold across the UK in 400 shops. And Ailsa has even won an MBE for her services to the food industry. Now that's impressive!
