We could bang on about great British Sunday roasts all year round, but they're especially heart-warming in winter. And naturally, an essential element is a well-risen Yorkshire pud.

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, perfect with all meats (traditionalists who only pair them with beef are missing a trick) - oh, and the dream for mopping up leftover gravy.

Mmm, what's not to love?

Well, devoted fans of the roast staple can rejoice, because the UK's first ever Yorkshire Pudding Festival is coming to Leeds City Centre on 1st February 2020.

The event will be a big celebration of all things Yorkshire pudding, building on its role as an essential part of the nation's roast dinners.

What can we expect? A range of top-notch food vendors, for one thing, all creating their take own lip-smacking takes on the humble Yorkshire Pudding.

British foodies will be mixing, stuffing and smothering the simple batter-based goodies with a tasty array of home-cooked dishes from all around the world.

Kang's Punjabi Box will be filling their Yorkies with authentic spice-laced Indian cuisine, while Nan's Van & Kitchen will be pulling up to serve fresh fluffy Yorkshires out of their charming 1970s converted Rice horse box.

There'll be plenty of small-scale family businesses and independent food producers to support - many of them Yorkshire-based traders selling Yorkshire-made products. A great chance to buy local and keep your winter feasting suitably authentic.

Visitors can roll up - ideally wearing elasticated trousers - and grab a drink from the welcoming bar to accompany their chosen dish, and enjoy a great selection of first-class live entertainment that will be on throughout the day.

The event is free for all to attend, and visitors can catch up on all The Yorkshire Pudding Festival happenings via their social media pages, including details of who the food vendors will be.

Oh-so-much better than an Aunt Bessie's. Pass the gravy.
