We don't want to trigger any existential crises at the moment, but we feel obliged to inform you that you've almost certainly been using a vegetable peeler wrong your whole life.
Until now, we thought our culinary skills were pretty a-okay, but then we watched a video from slow cooking enthusiast Tim Smith and it's literally changed everything.

Account manager Tim might not be a chef, but the 51-year-old became a sensation after he showed off a hack when using a standard peeler to prepare carrots.
Stood in his kitchen in Nottingham preparing a bolognese sauce on April 5, Tim decided to test out the trick his girlfriend had told him about.
Starting at the top of the root vegetable, Tim ran the peeler from the base down to the tip, but instead of taking the utensil back to the top of the carrot to repeat the process, he simply pushed it back up - saving valuable seconds and effort.
GAME CHANGER.
After doing it a couple of times, a bewildered Tim looked into the camera in disbelief and declared: "Oh my God, I just figured out how to use this'.

He honestly looked like he'd seen a ghost!
And it clearly wasn't just him who was left gobsmacked, as when he shared it on Facebook, the video quickly racked up more than 48,000 shares and a whopping 1.3 million views on the platform.
Many comments branded Tim a 'genius,' while others simply expressed their shock at having gone their whole lives without knowing such valuable time saving information.

To which their pal replied: "Not me!"
"My mind is blown," a third concurred.
As a fourth declared: "Life changed". Ours too.

Discussing the now viral trick, Tim said: "I was absolutely stunned. It's just something so small and simple in your life that most of us have been doing wrong all along.
"My girlfriend had mentioned it a week before and I hadn't had a chance to put it to the test until I started making the bolognese.
"I don't normally put a carrot in the sauce but I had searched recipes for the slow cooker and it suggested it, so I decided to give it a go.
"This was my genuine reaction as I hadn't tried it before this. I was incredulous."

He added: "I never imagined it would get so much interest online. I thought a couple of my mates would call me 'boring' for posting it, but it's blown up.
"I think it just shows that we all need a bit of a laugh at the moment. I'll be using this technique in the future. It's life changing."
