This Mary Poppins Afternoon Tea Is Practically Perfect In Every Way

As far as afternoon tea goes, there are a ton of options available to you in the Capital.

From the standard to the weird, there's pretty much something for everyone, but I'm sure we can all agree that the most appropriate (and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious) option has to be this Mary Poppins afternoon tea experience at Aqua Shard.

The cost of the experience starts at £49 per guest, and can be booked up to three months in advance.

The tea is served on a custom-made tea stand made with Mary Poppins' own umbrella on top and boots on the bottom, and the plates and teacups are decorated with Mary Shepard's original illustrations.

The food, too, is all practically perfect and spot-on appropriate in every way - with traditional finger sandwiches like dingley dell roast ham and mustard, dressed Devon crab and cucumber brioche, and Cackleberry egg and black truffle, and mini crumpets (Mary's fave) served with smoked salmon and cream cheese on offer.

And as far as tea goes, you've got plenty of choices.

Two teas have been created especially for the experience - Mary's tea, a blend of Darjeeling, Ceylon, Keeman and rose petals, and Bert's tea, which combines Keemun, Souchong, Ceylon, Cornflower and Vanilla.

For dessert, there's Mrs Brill's homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, a "Strike Me Pink" sponge, a cherry and chocolate Poppins hat, and some fairground style candy floss.

If you're a grown up you can upgrade to include rum punch liqueur or some fizz. One thing's for sure, if you're a Poppins fan, the experience is definitely worth it. Even if you're not, you'll get a great view of London from all the way up there.

You can find out more and book your very own Mary Poppins afternoon tea on the Aqua Shard website.
