You Can Now Get Pigs In Blanket Flavoured Chocolates

Weird flex, but okay...

You can now get pigs in blankets flavoured chocolates, and they're the Christmas treat we didn't know we needed.

Hear us out. When we first thought about the concept of savoury, meat flavoured chocolate, we were a little perplexed, so say the least.

But then we pondered it a little more, and reasoned that if both chocolate and pigs in blankets are so delicious in their own rights, why shouldn't they work together?!

Created by master chocolatier, Paul A Young, who is known for incorporating unusual flavours into his sweet treats, the vegan-friendly, limited-edition chocolates are made using a smoky 75 per cent Papua New Guinea chocolate shell.

Inside, they're stuffed with a ganache, which is created to celebrate the chipolata sausage, infused with herbs like sage and thyme.

Other spices in the chocolates include black garlic, ginger, salt and pepper. Plus, there's also a touch of Marmite to recreate that umami tang, and give the chocs a meaty flavour (just don't tell anybody who hates the stuff!).

The truffles are finished off with natural smoked water to create a smoked bacon flavour.

But, believe it or not, they're actually vegan. All that meaty flavour and no animals were harmed!

Paul said of the new chocolates: "It's very exciting as a chocolatier to have the opportunity to create unique and stand out products that will spark so much conversation and joy.

"Creating the pigs in blankets Chocolates has been one of the most enjoyable product development projects I've had to work on. It's exactly what I enjoy, creating a unique inspiring chocolate to taste like sausage and bacon and to be vegan friendly.

"Using Papua New Guinea couverture from British chocolate producer Firetree allowed me to enhance its already smoky character and add an aromatic ganache with all the flavours of herbs and spices. It's the perfect festive chocolate!".

The chocolates are brought to us in collaboration with Sony Christmas - the channel bringing Christmas themed films all day, every day from Thursday 24th September.

You can buy the chocolates from Paul A Young for one month, starting from the same date, and they'll cost £18.60.

Sounds like a pretty good stocking filler, to us...better stock up while we can!
