M&S Is Selling An Incredible Melon That Tastes Like A Lime
Listen up, fruit lovers. Marks & Spencer is now stocking a quirky hybrid, named a limelon.
Yep, just in time for summer, you can now get hold of a tasty melon-lime crossover exclusively at the luxury high-street supermarket.
Perfect enjoyed in a savoury or fruity salad, a cocktail or an ice cold G&T, the limelon adds an extra flavour kick to whatever you're serving.
First tested back in 2016, the limelon was created by a fruit breeder company in Taiwan, and has since been manufactured to sell across Europe.
According to wholesalers HillFresh International: "Limelons have a unique flavor with a nice bite of lemon".
And the best part is they last up to four weeks, which is almost double the shelf-life of a normal melon.
We first saw the unusual combo on British shelves back in 2012, after was cultivated more locally, in Spain.
However, this stock will only be limited, as it has been grown using a new seed variety that isn't in wide supply.
This particular limelon is a limited edition special, only being sold at Marks and Spencer.
So, if you want to try one, get on it now!
On Instagram, M&S' press team teased the quirky fruit, writing: "Introducing the LIMELON! This incredible limited-edition hybrid fruit tastes like a juicy melon with a hint of lime - deliciously refreshing with a zesty citrus bite!
"Perfect for all the family, this zingy fruit is great served on its own, topped on yoghurt or added to savoury lunchtime salads."
And the comments absolutely exploded with excited shoppers, desperate to try it for themselves.
"Oh I can't wait to hit M&S," wrote one.
As another penned: "Sounds perfectly refreshing for those hot summer days. Mmmm".
Another simply wrote: "Wow."
Our words exactly. We can't wait to make ourselves a limelon flavoured gin.
