One of Britain's favourite pubs snacks just got a super chic (and healthy) makeover thanks to M&S.

Jerky has long been staple in our local boozers, but we don't always reach for it thanks to its over-processed, fatty reputation. That's where M&S's charcuterie crisps come in, the high street foodie's version of the popular snack.

Made with 100 per cent Italian and Spanish pork, the crisps are air-dried instead of fried like other kinds of crisps, and come in at under 136 calories for a 25 gram pack.

There's three flavours: Spanish Chorizo (136kcals), the sliced pork sausage seasoned with paprika, Salami Milano (131kcals), made from Italian fermented pork salami, and Spanish Serrano Ham (99kcals), dried and cured to taste. Yes, they all sound YUM.

"The crisps are cured in the traditional way and then air-dried by our charcuterie experts in the heart of the Pyrenees in Spain," say M&S.

Costing just £1.50, M&S suggest taking a few bags to your next picnic, as a snack on the go, or adding to your salad for some texture and crunch. Sounds DELICIOUS if you ask us.

M&S Charcuterie Product Developer Rosie While said: "With a surge in the number of people adopting a high protein diet, we're always on the look-out for new ways to offer our customers a protein fix."

She added of the new addition to the snack aisle: "Our new charcuterie crisps are set to be a game-changer - the perfect snack on-the-go or delicious sprinkled on top of a salad for added crunch."

Once again, M&S have nailed it.
