McDonald's has announced the restaurants that will be reopening for delivery on 13th May. Is your local on the list?

Last week, the fast food chain - which closed all of its 1,249 on March 23rd in line with lockdown measures - announced it would be reopening 15 branches across the UK, where customers will be able to order via Just Eat and Uber Eats.

Announcing the lucky locations on Twitter, McDonald's wrote: "We are pleased to confirm the 15 restaurants we will open for McDelivery only from 13th May."

On Friday 1st May, McDonald's chief executive, Paul Pomroy announced the news with a statement.

"When we return it will be different as we all adjust to this new normal," he said. "I want to apologise in advance if our first wave of reopened restaurants does not serve your area.

"Rest assured, we are working hard to reopen more restaurants, but I am adamant this must be at the right pace with the wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and customers front of mind.

"Slowly, but safely, we will return to towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, and thank you for your continued support as we work through this crisis."

The fast food chain is introducing a series of social distancing measures to keep customers and employees safe, including perspex screens and floor markings, PPE (which will include non medical grade face masks) and all employees must confirm they are fit and able to work.

Employees will also have their temperature taken on arrival at work each day, where a contactless thermometer will be used. Social distancing measures will also be introduced for delivery and service partners.
