McDonald’s Is Opening All Drive-Thrus In The UK This Week
McDonald's has been gradually reopening stores for Drive-Thru and delivery a couple of weeks now, but not everyone as lucky enough to see their local store back in action.
However, we've got fantastic news for anyone enviously looking on at their pals' enjoying Big Macs: every Drive Thru in the UK and Ireland will be open by the end of this week.
After successfully reopening a small selection of its stores with brand new heightened safety measures, the chain is officially relaunching 1,019 of its 1,249 restaurants between Tuesday and Thursday.
The chain is also promising to "expand the availability" of McDelivery, too (so, even if you don't have a car, you need not miss out.)
Announcing the news last week, a McDonald's spokesperson said: "We can today announce that by 4th June, 1,019 of our restaurants will have reopened, either for Drive Thru or McDelivery.
"This means every Drive Thru in the UK and Ireland will reopen between Tuesday and Thursday next week and we will start to expand the availability of McDelivery too.
"This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants. Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."
You'll have to keep an eye out on social media to see when your local branch will be back up and running, as McDonald's is releasing the locations of each reopening restaurant on the morning that it's reopening.
Way to keep us in suspense, Ronald!
Discussing the stringent safety measures in place, McDonald's said: "Please bear with us, we will continue to put our people first - their safety is our priority.
"Face coverings, gloves, Perspex screens and new safety and hygiene processes mean it will look different, it will take a little longer and as we have seen in the pilot restaurants, we expect demand will be high.
"We will continue to work with local authorities and the police as we extend our reopening plans. With smaller teams, we will still be offering a limited menu over reduced hours, and we ask that you make contactless payments and limit your spend to £25."
Those visiting the Drive-Thru will have to choose between these menu items on June 4th:
Understandably, not everything will be available until safety measures lessen and more staff can work in the kitchens. We'll update you whenever that may be.
"We are continuing to review these measures as we reopen, but for now, these restrictions remain in place to help our employees, customers and delivery partner couriers to remain safe," McDonald's added.
"To manage the anticipated demand, we will release the locations of the reopening restaurants on the morning of each day."
