But now that's all about to change as one handy invention has solved all our problems.
And the best part? It only costs £6.
McDonald's fans in the UK have been raving about a car sauce holder that's been designed to hold the dips so you can eat them on the go.
A TikTok user shared the clever purchase she'd picked up for her dips, captioning the piece of tech as the "best purchase ever" and we couldn't agree more.
In the short video, user @safwaring can be seen clipping the tiny sauce holder to the fan in her car. She then pops the dip in and we see her tucking into her nuggets and chips without awkwardly balancing the dips.

The clip, which got 280,000 likes and hundreds of comments, was a hit with fans.
One wrote: "This is a wise investment."
Another fan said the ingenious dip holder was a "need not a want", while another bragged that they'd ordered "several" for the people he worked with.
Over on Amazon, customers were just as impressed with the ingenious invention.

"Fits McDonalds sauces PERFECTLY," said one. "Absolutely love this little gadge. Very handy and fits in the glove box well and doesn't take up much space."
Another happy customer added: "Simple and easy. I keep one in my car all the time. I now finally have a place to keep that tasty nugget sauce."
The TikTok user bought the sauce holders, which come in a pack of two, for £6 on Amazon but said that similar products were on sale "specifically designed to hold the UK McDonald's dips".
