McDonald's unveiled a selection of exciting new menu additions recently, including the Spicy Quarter Pounder.

The Spicy Quarter Pounder with Cheese costs £4.79 and is currently taking temporary residence on the fast food joint's menu alongside a selection of other new arrivals.

Made with two slices of pepper jack cheese, onions, jalapenos, mustard and a spicy ketchup in a sesame seed bun, the sandwich is designed for those who like their burgers with a fiery kick.

But some people are complaining that the new burger is actually too spicy.

Ahem? The clue is in the name...

The backlash comes after fans flocked to get the Spicy McNuggets earlier this year, only to complain they weren't hot enough.

"Seeing as the McDonald's spicy nuggets weren't very spicy, I thought I'd try the new spicy quarter pounder. I wish I hadn't, I now can't taste anything," one person wrote after trying the burger.

Meanwhile, another concurred: "Is it just me or is the new McDonald's spicy quarter pounder bloody sPiCy".

A third agreed it was hot, but said that this was what made it so great.

"@McDonalds I believe People think the new spicy quarter pounder is too hot... it's amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be so hot. Good work. Can't wait to have another!" they wrote.

The Spicy Quarter Pounder is on the Maccies menu until Tuesday 17th November - and there's even the option to add an extra patty for a pound.

While reviews have been mixed, the fast food giant itself is feeling confident about the launch.

"Our new quarter pounder with cheese range has been an incredibly popular new launch," a representative told The Sun.

"We're delighted to offer our customers the choice of dialling up or turning down the heat; from the spicy quarter pounder for fans of fiery food, to the new quarter pounder deluxe with cool mayo, there's something for everyone to enjoy."

If you want our advice, those who can't take the heat should get out of the kitchen...
