KFC Is Trialling A Fried Chicken Donut Sandwich And We Are Lost For Words
KFC is known and loved for its southern fried chicken - but now the fast food chain is expanding into doughnuts.
And it's debut menu item? A fried chicken and doughnut sandwich.
The American chicken franchise is trialling the addition of doughnuts to its menu alongside its famed fried chicken at more than 40 locations across the US in Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia, and Pittsburgh.
The pièce de résistance has to be the sandwich: a piece of fried chicken squashed between two glazed doughnuts. Perfect for those who can't decide between savoury or sweet...

Customers can also opt for a basket containing chicken on the bone or chicken tenders with two glazed doughnuts.
The chicken-and-doughnut meal will cost $5.50 (£4.40) for one doughnut and $7.50 (£6) for two doughnuts, while the sandwich is priced at $6 (£4.80), or as a combo meal for $8 (£6.40). Customers will also be able to add a doughnut - served hot - as an extra to any meal for $1 (80p).

While there aren't plans to bring the sweet menu items to KFCs on British shores just yet, if the trial is successful there's no reason why UK chicken lovers won't be able to sample the calorific items.
KFC are using the trial "to evaluate whether customers are craving chicken and doughnuts on a national scale," and note that chicken and doughnuts have recently been trendy in areas such as Philadelphia, San Diego, and Portland, Oregon, report Business Insider.
Naturally, the controversial item has received some mixed feedback online.
"Just because you can doesn't mean you should," one Twitter user commented.
"DARN YOU KFC AND YOUR DEADLY/DELICIOUS CONCOCTIONS," said another.
"I like donuts. I like chicken. But this is BLASPHEMY," said a third.
Fancy a trip to the US to try this?
