Pizza for breakfast? Yes please.

We can't say we've never had pizza for breakfast before - but it's usually a hungover, eat it cold out-the-box jobby.

Now, one woman has come up with the idea of 'pizza cereal' and it could be the best idea ever.

Food and lifestyle blogger, Valentina Mussi (@sweetportfolio) came up with the idea during lockdown.

A little bit like the pancake cereal trend we told you about a few weeks ago, pizza cereal is teeny tiny mini pizzas, you can enjoy in a bowl, with a spoon - just like a bowl of cornflakes.

Adding milk is, er, optional.

Valentina told Tyla: "I came up with the idea after the cereal food trend started. I had already made pancake cereal, blueberry muffin cereal, chocolate chip cereal, French toast cereal, and doughnut cereal so, I thought it was time for something savoury.

"They have received a very positive response, people think they're adorable! I think so too. I've also gotten some comments of people saying they were afraid I'd add milk to the pizza 'cereal'. I did not. I personally find that extremely unappealing!

"Overall, I think this trend has been a fun way for many of us to stay busy during quarantine."

Ingredients

  • Pre-made pizza dough (or, make your own!)
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • San Marzano tomato sauce
  • Pepperoni (or a topping of your choice)

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F/200°C.
  • Roll out the pizza dough and cut little circles with a cookie cutter or knife.
  • Place circles over a baking sheet and add tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
  • Bake for eight minutes or until crispy. Enjoy!
  • You can also use the left over dough to make more pizza.

Don't forget, once it's cooked, simply transfer to a bowl and eat with a spoon!
