If Greggs is a significant part of your life you'll no doubt be missing the bakery's delectable Yum Yums right about now.

The twisted doughnuts come glazed with icing and make the perfect accompaniment to our hot drink. Oh, how we miss them.

Anyway, while we wait for the nation's favourite bakery to reopen, one fan has handily posted a recipe for how to make your Yum Yums at home.

Posted by TikTok foodie @caughtsnackin, the simple recipe requires just 150g strong white flour, 25g melted butter, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tbsp caster sugar, 7g instant yeast and 70ml warm water for the dough and 1/2 cup of icing sugar and 2 tbsp water for the glaze.

Begin by grabbing a mixing bowl and adding the flour, melted butter, egg (whisked), salt, sugar, yeast and warm water, and mix until doughy.

Next, roll the dough into a ball shape, place it in a bowl covered with cling film and set to the side for proving.

Let it rise for a while until it's "looking massive", says the amateur chef. When it's ready, take the cling film off and he suggests "giving it a punch for the culture".

Next, sprinkle your surface with flour and roll the dough out with a rolling pin until its a nice circular shape.

Afterwards, you should cut the dough into sections which will form your individual Yum Yums.

In order to form your twists, cut a slit down the centre of each Yum Yum and twist over as demonstrated.

Next, shallow fry each one in oil and flip them to do the other side.

Finally, mix your icing sugar with water and douse your twisted doughnuts. Et voila! You have Yum Yums.

It may not be real Greggs but it's as close as we're gonna get right now, so we'll take it.

However, hope is on the horizon. The nation's favourite bakery is reportedly reopening some of its stores in order to test how it will safely reopen when lockdown is lifted.

"We want to play our part in getting the nation back up and running again so we are planning to conduct a limited trial with volunteers to explore how we can reopen our shops with new measures in place that keep our colleagues and customers as safe as we can when we re-open at scale," a spokesperson told The Sun.

All 2,050 of Greggs' stores have been closed since 24th March after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced lockdown, offering limited delivery on JustEat.

It's unclear currently how many stores will be reopening and in which locations - but fingers crossed for one close to us.
