The jury might be out on the likes of Crunchies, Bountys, and Boosts, but we think it's fair to say that pretty much everyone can appreciate an Aero.

The airy, bubble-filled chocolate bar has been a mainstay in our confectionery stash for as long as we can remember - and now, the chocolate brand is bringing out a new flavour for the first time in years. How does a caramel Aero sound to you?

Yes, for the past few months Nestlé has been working away on a caramel-flavoured bar in its factories, and the delicious spin-off is finally ready to launch in the UK!

Available as a 100g sharing bar, the milk chocolate is made with cocoa (responsibly sourced - yay) twisted with flavours of the sugary treat. Each bar has an RRP of £1.

Amy Kendall, Assistant Brand Manager for Aero, said: "Aero is renowned for its unique combination of chocolate and bubbles that melt effortlessly in your mouth, giving you a little uplifting moment.

"The science and technology behind Aero made it unique from the start - but we continually look for new ways to innovate and delight fans. We believe that Aero Caramel is a delicious new addition to the Aero family and we hope it will soon become another firm favourite."

Aero has stayed true to two flavours - milk and peppermint - since it launched the former in the 1970s, so the introduction of a third flavour is pretty big news in the confectionery world. Who are we kidding, guys, this is HUGE.

The innovation is being made at Nestlé's factory in York, which is also responsible for producing milk and peppermint Aero and Aero Bubbles, as well as KitKat, Milkybar and Polo.

Aero Caramel goes on sale over the next few weeks in Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons and Tesco as well as in wholesalers and convenience stores. It will be available as an 100gram - *cough* - 'sharing' bar only, but if you want to eat the entire thing on your own, that's OK too.

Last year, Nestlé introduced Aero Bliss, a new premium version of Aero which comes as indulgent boxed chocolates.

We predict Aero Caramel is going to make waves in the sweet shelf game and we can't wait to try it.
