You may have scoffed 10 tonnes of chocolate over the festive period, but you'll want to leave a little bit of space for Cadbury's Creme Egg cake bars which hit shelves in Asda just this week.

The mouthwatering new Choc Cakes were spotted by savvy shoppers just two days after Christmas, and have since been shared on the Newfoodsuk Instagram page where fans have been going wild.

Just when we thought we couldn't eat any more chocolate, Cadbury has released the sweet treats almost four months ahead of Easter.

The scrumptious treats come in a pack of six and comprise a delicious chocolate sponge topped with a gooey Creme Egg fondant.

Coated in a layer of thick, milk chocolate, the spongey cake bars hit shelves nationwide at Asda last week.

The vegetarian-friendly treats are also available in Iceland, meanwhile Tesco has an Easter cake selection box up for grabs - which includes Creme Egg Choc Cakes and Mini Egg Choc Cakes, too.

While many Creme Egg fans have welcomed the news, some social media users were less than impressed at the early arrival.

One said they were "sick" of chocolate after Christmas while another wrote: "Easter already?"

In other chocolate cake news, Tesco is now selling a sloth celebration cake, perfect for a sloth-loving pal.

Sammy the Sloth features a cheeky face, with adorable sloth feet and is covered in milk chocolate curls. Priced at £8, the sponge cake is also suitable for vegetarians.

And that's not all. Waitrose has also raised the game with a decadent giant Jaffa cake.

Shaped like a chocolate log, it features layers of light and airy orange-flavoured mousse, sandwiched between clementine jelly.

It's then topped with a luxurious chocolate glaze and edible glitter for an extra special touch.

It costs just £13 but is only available over the festive period, so if you fancy getting your hands on it, you best be quick!
