We don't know whether its the current political climate, the fact the earth is heating up at an alarming rate or a mixture of both, but 2019 has truly been the year of adding alcohol to EV-ER-Y-THING.

We're not joking, just about every food is getting a trendy booze update, whether that's adding pink gin to our cream, espresso martini to our yoghurts or Pimm's to our jam.

And now, guess what? They're messing with our mince pies. But truth be told, we're not mad about this one...

ASDA has reinvented the Christmas staple with their Sloe Gin Mince Pies and honestly they sound delicious.

The luxury mince pies are filled with spiced vine fruit, spices and a splash of French sloe gin (a type of gin liqueur made from the sloe berry) encased in an all-butter pastry and topped with a dusting sweet icing sugar.

The update on the classic festive nibble cost £2 for a box of six.

ASDA's Sloe Gin Mince Pies come as part of the supermarket's Extra Special range, alongside Extra Special Mince Pies, Extra Special Nut Topped Mince Pies, Iced Topped Mince Pies and Asda Mince Pies.

"We know our customers love festive treats and we're constantly looking for ways we can make Brits' favourite products new and exciting each season," said a spokesperson from the brand.

"This Christmas, we wanted to take Brits' love of gin and infuse it into their favourite festive nibble, making the pies the perfect treat for a winter evening!"

The mince pies aren't online as of yet but you can grab a pack from your local supermarket.

Believe it or not, mince pies have been around since the 13th century, but we're not adverse to an update on the classic.

Did we mention this version has gin?
