It may only be 88 days until Christmas but if you're already planning your festive feast then you're in luck as Aldi has answered many a meat eaters' prayers with its new two metre-long pig in blanket.

Forget the usual turkey or festive ham, the German supermarket is ready to make the Christmas pork staple the star of the dinner table this year. And the best part? It'll only cost customers £4.99.

For the competitive price, pork lovers can get their hands on 6.5 feet of succulent sausage wrapped in flavour-filled crispy streaky bacon. Yup, that sounds like an absolute banger alright.

According to Aldi, the lengthy piece of pork is the longest in the UK. At the height of a basketball player you would expect it to be.

Although Aldi is on a roll, customers will have to wait over two months for the novelty sausage as it won't land in stores until Thursday, 5th December.

It could be wurst. At least, you can get it just in time to get your chops round it for Christmas.

The supermarket's meaty announcement comes nearly a year after it unveiled its foot-long pig in blanket sausage.

These came in packs of two and only cost £2.99, which was far from baloney.

Last year, the supermarket chain said its 'ultimate pig in blanket' served up to 10 people, although customers could most definitely tackle the sausage in one sitting without a doubt.

Aldi said at the time: "Enjoy 2 succulent foot-long British pork sausages wrapped in delicious smoked streaky bacon. Made from 100% British meat, this is the biggest pig in blanket on the market."

Much like last year, these meaty treats are a special buy only for the festive period, so once they are gone, they're gone so act fast. You've been warned.
