Lavender-Grey Is The Latest Hair Colour Trend All Over Instagram

Lavender-grey is the hair colour trend you'll be seeing all over your Instagram feed this season - and it's the perfect way to freshen up grey or ashy blondes.

US Glamour has declared lavender-grey as the hair colour trend of the season, having been rocked by Ariana Grande a couple of years prior and now everyone's requesting for it in their salon.

Ask your hair stylist for 'a smoky grey base with a lavender tint' if you want to try out the trend yourself.

Whether you like a subtle look or want to go for full on lavender, you can make this colour work for you.

Ask for a light tinge if you want to keep things simple or turn your ombré locks into bold lavender for something bolder.

Social media is littered with pictures of people's lavender-grey locks - save them to take to your stylist:

And it seems like the trend will be really taking off this season as searches for lilac hair are up by 1,077 per cent on Pinterest this year.

Jason Hogan, Celebrity and Associate Colourist at Josh Wood, told Glamour: "Lavender Grey is a playful twist on the silver manes we have seen over the last few years. A silver base with varying intensities of lavender, you can flirt with a palest violet hue or be more dramatic with deeper violet reflect."

However, if you like a low maintenance look, this might not be the right colour for you in terms of upkeep.

"This is not low maintenance colour," says Jason, pointing out that roots will need to be retouched every four to six weeks, as well as frequent toners and masks.

But there is a solution as he adds: "A rooty look is an option for those cooler natural blondes but for those not wanting the commitment of an all-over change, hidden pockets of lavender grey work wonderfully with an ash blonde or smokey brunette."

We'll be booking in a cut and colour for this trend immediately.
