It’s probably about time you got involved with the grooviest nail trend of the season.

The year is 1994 and cool kids everywhere are begging their parents for a lava lamp. You know, those fun, psychedelic light fixtures that mesmerised us with their slow gel-like movements and floating goo.

Flash forward 25 years and the lava lamp fad is making another comeback. But this time its not on nightstands - it's on nails.

Spotted most recently on the Instagram feed of Liam Peter, the nail artist has taken stiletto-shaped nails and transformed them into miniature lava lamps, and it's blowing our minds how much they look like the real thing.

"Lava lamp nails! Let's start a trend! #lavalampnails" he posted. "Have wanted to do something like this for a year and finally did it."

Sharing with his followers how to get the look, Peter used The GelBottle Inc. gel nail polish in 'Cosmopolitan' alongside the creamy orange 'Bellini' shade.

Fans are equally as thrilled with this groovy new nail trend as we are, with one follower commenting: "Love it!! Really good idea and it's very well done"

"This is so next level omg" wrote another fan, while a third posted: "SO BRILLIANT. You are such a visionary!"

But do you want to know the best news? Other nail artists have started to catch on and now there's a whole load of options for creating the look.

Taking the trend to a whole new level, this expert has not only imitated a lava lamp on one lucky lady's nails but has actually found a way to make them move too. We can't stop watching.

While this look might be less like the real thing, this lava lamp nail art offers a colourful neon pop that's slightly more wearable than its predecessors.

This Connecticut YouTuber is helping women all over the world but making a tutorial of how to create the look at home.

"Cool Lava Lamp Nails! Let's start a trend! Original idea by @liampeternails @yaaas_get_nailed. Tutorial suggested by @nailsbymeech out tomorrow YouTube," the artist said.

These nails actually GLOW IN THE DARK.
