The Ordinary Isn't Closing! Here's The Cult Beauty Brand's Top Five Skincare Products

The Ordinary Isn't Closing! Here's The Cult Beauty Brand's Top Five Skincare Products

The Ordinary revolutionised the beauty world with its arrival in 2017, bringing with it luxury, effective skincare in minimalist, no fuss packaging and affordable prices. Plenty of the products quickly reached 'cult status', with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian singing the brand's praises, and it is easy to see why.

Naturally, fans of The Ordinary were left panicking for their skincare regimes when the brand's then-CEO Brandon Truaxe announced it would be 'temporarily' shutting shop last week. He shared a lengthy, incoherent explanation which made little sense its followers, alleging that The Ordinary employees had all been involved in 'major criminal activity'.

But thankfully after a couple of rocky days of stocking up on our favourite products, Deciem - 'the abnormal beauty company' behind The Ordinary - has returned, although Brandon has been removed as CEO by a judge. Estée Lauder, which owns 28 per cent of Deciem, confirmed it had begun legal proceedings against him.

So now Deciem's website is back online and stores have reopened after mass panic from both shoppers and employees, here's the top five products you should be adding to your basket.

There's been a huge buzz around hyaluronic acid in the beauty world in recent months.

Despite claims of hydration, some other brands' hyaluronic acids actually dry out the skin as the molecules are too large to penetrate, and instead sit on the surface, counter productively drawing out moisture.

The Ordinary's 2% + B5 version combines three forms of HA with different molecular weights, to offer multi-depth hydration and visible plumping.

The product will also help to balance visible aspects of sebum activity, and its silicone properties mean it's also great for more sensitive skin.

Applying a couple of drops of the solution all over your face before creams will reduce congestion and spots, maintaining flawless skin, although The Ordinary makes clear this one isn't a treatment for acne.
