We've had hair envy over Holly Willoughby's blonde locks for some time. The choppy shoulder-length 'do always looks chic and anyone who dyes their hair blonde will know, it's not easy maintenance.
Even less so during lockdown. And now, Holly, 39 has taken to Instagram to reveal to her followers how she dyes her roots from home, giving a step-by-step tutorial.
Using a Garnier Nutrisse hair dye - in shade 10.01 (aka 'natural baby blonde) Holly filmed the how-to from her bathroom.

"Hi, so this is weird, here we are in lockdown. You might be the same as me, looking in the mirror going 'oh my goodness, look at that big dark stripe coming down the top of my head," she said to the camera.
"I thought I'd show you what I do and how I keep on top of my own roots. It's one of those weird things where no one ever ever believes I colour my own hair. I do, I colour it all the time. It saves me so much time sitting in the salon so I just do it at home and it's just a really quick and easy thing to do.
"It doesn't damage my hair, I find my hair has been in better condition because I'm not layering up tons of highlights. I do get highlights done once in a blue moon just to break it up a bit."
Holly went on to demonstrate how to use the dye, emphasising that everyone must patch test the product first.

She then talked followers through the content of the box, explaining how each product works and what you'll need to do to get the dye ready for application.
And don't forget to wear the provided gloves!
Holly then begins applying the dye to her roots, taking the hair in sections and dabbing on the product across her roots.
"It's actually a little bit slap dash," joked Holly.
"I keep doing that all the way. This is just what I do, this is what works for me [...] This is not an exact science but it will do for now and when I have my sister here or my mum here, they can check the back. Also the other thing is it kind of expands, you think you're missing big chunks but you'd be surprised."

Holly then massages the product in, to make sure she hasn't missed any little bits, before leaving for 25 minutes. Please always read the instructions as the development time can vary.
We have to say, the results are seriously impressive, with the dark brown roots Holly had previously, completely vanished.
"No brown stripe! Ta-da! Done. Dried, finished, no roots, no disasters, no greys.

"That's how I colour my hair, give it a go, see how you get on, best of luck to you and please read the instructions yourself and remember to do a patch test."
