When we were in our teens, homemade Halloween costumes usually involved a mangled bin liner and an oversized pair of our mums' heels. We'd find press powder in the lightest shade, draw a web on our cheek in liquid liner and call it a day.
TikTok turns kids thrifty overnight, and we're not mad at it!
Thanks to today's teens, we can say goodbye to buying ill-fitted crop tops online. All we need now are some scissors, sewing tools and a pair of tights.
Turns out, flipping a pair of tights upside down means you have a perfect crop top template to work with. By cutting the gusset out and converting it into a neckline, your fave pair of winter-warmers becomes a slinky night-out 'fit.
Removing the toe-line from the tights also ensures your hands can snugly fit through. Who needs mesh, eh?
The trend has racked up over half-a-million views on TikTok, with people everywhere trying to recreate the look. One content creator from France even posted a tutorial!
While the tights-top looks incredible after the initial alterations, it doesn't stop there. Once you've been able to tailor the top to your body, it's time to get ripping.
The look isn't complete without a few (hundred) holes on there. These final touches capture the perfect Halloween look. Why not pair it with some winged liner, fake blood and dark lipstick?
It's safe to say TikTok users are absolutely obsessed with this cutting-edge (get it?) new trend.
"Can we get a tutorial on the shirt please", one user commented on @pwada's video. "I'm obsessed wif [sic] the shirt," said another.
One viewer didn't even realise the top was homemade! "Where is your shirt from omg [sic]," they said.
Sorry, we're just wondering when bin bag witches' costumes will surface on the app.
