'The Jeremy Kyle Show' Officially Axed By ITV After Death Of Guest
The Jeremy Kyle Show has been axed following the death of a guest, ITV's CEO has confirmed today.
Steven Dymond was found dead on 9th May, just days after he filmed for the show, and the programme was immediately suspended with all episodes pulled from the ITV Hub.
Now it has been officially confirmed that the show will not appear on TV again, given the "gravity of recent events".
"Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show," confirmed ITV's CEO, Carolyn McCall on Wednesday morning.
"The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.
"Everyone at ITV's thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond.
"The previously announced review of the episode of the show is under way and will continue."
ITV said it would continue to work with host Jeremy Kyle on other projects.
On Wednesday, Downing Street called the death "deeply concerning".
