Secret Life Of 5 Year Olds viewers were moved to tears by a little boy who opened up on his dad's death in tear-jerking scenes.

The young kids had been tasked with writing a speech on their heroes by their teacher during the latest instalment of the Channel 4 show, and Samuel chose to dedicate his words to his late father.

Samuel told how his dad was his favourite person as he held up old photos of the two of them together, explaining that he was now "in heaven" by pointing up at the sky with his finger.

"When he died, he wasn't at home, he was in hospital," the five-year-old told the cameras.

The young boy's dad died when he was just four, and he continued: "I didn't get to see him when he died, except for when he was in a big box, it wasn't see-through, it was just a big box.

"One time I'm going to go to a big wishing well and wish that he's still alive."

Sam added: "My dad, he isn't at my house, he isn't anywhere, but he is one place... In the sky.

"He's not on an airplane, he's not on holiday, and he's not here..."

In the same episode, brave Sam pulled on viewers' heartstrings once again, by calling his dad in heaven using the toy phone in the nursery.

"Hi dad, how you doing?" Samuel began the phone call, going on to explain that he was starring in Secret Life Of 5 Year Olds - we bet his dad would be so proud.

"Better leave now, bye," the youngster declared as he put he phone down, before quickly picking it back up again to add: "Love you, see you later."

Twitter was flooded with tears from moved viewers, with one writing: "Real tearjerker hearing young Samuel talk so lovingly about his dad who has passed away. Got me when he was talking to his dad on his heaven phone and saying "I love you, see you later'."

"I was not emotionally prepared for Samuel in #secretlifeof5yearolds what a sweetheart....he will be an amazing young man when he's older [sic]," shared another.
