Kate Garraway revealed she feels "physically sick" at the thought of not spending Christmas with her husband Derek Draper during a heart-wrenching interview on Good Morning Britain.

Former Labour adviser Derek, 52, was admitted into hospital on March 30th where he tested positive for coronavirus and despite now testing negative, is sadly still in hospital.

Referring to her co-star Lorraine Kelly, who recently demanded the government cancel Christmas, Kate said: "We saw Lorraine yesterday on the show saying, 'It's such a muddle, will somebody make a decision?' and I think part of the problem is people are trying to arm themselves with information to stay safe."

She continued: "I'm very conflicted about Christmas, I've got to be honest with you.

"I feel physically sick actually and I can sort of feel my chest tightening up at the thought of it, in a total panic about the idea of Darcey, Billy and myself on our own at Christmas, unable to visit Derek because of potentially restrictions and that huge emotional hole. I don't know how to fill it."

This will be the first Christmas the GMB star and her children Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, will have spent without Derek.

It has certainly been an extremely tough year for the TV host, whose beloved car, nicknamed Vicky Volvo, was also stolen from outside her London home.

However earlier this month Kate shared her "hope" as she thanked fans for their "wonderful messages" after she revealed Derek had said his first word amid his coronavirus battle. The word he whispered was "pain", leaving his wife in tears as she watched over FaceTime.

Kate's close friend Clare Nasir also recently revealed Kate's "uncertainty eats her alive" over her husband's health.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Clare said: "Kate is a warrior and she'll do what she has to do to get through this."

We're praying for a happy ending for Derek, Kate and everyone else involved.
