A water park in Dubai is about to become one of the biggest on the planet with a 112ft tower that incorporates 12 new slides.

Atlantis Aquaventure at Palm Island in the Middle East already spreads over a staggering 17 hectares with 20 rides and rivers. But the attraction is expanding even further to make it a record-breaker once it's finished in 2020.

One of the new slides - Mammouth Blast - will be one of the longest in the world reaching 449 metres. Promising "uncompromising force at unprecedented speeds," it incorporates rafts, back-to-back curves, drops and uphill climbs powered by patented water propulsion technology.

Another - Pipeline Blast/Flying Saucer 20 - is set to use high-speed rockets to propel thrill-seekers through gravity-defying turns while sat in an open saucer.

The adrenaline-inducing Rally Racer slide 32 allows guests to race each other to the bottom while the upgraded version of the park's iconic Leap of Faith slide will drop them more than 34 metres.

There's also a kids' area with miniature versions of some of the adults' attractions.

When they're ready to chill, visitors can kick back and enjoy a new winding river ride that offers views of Dubai's legendary skyline.

The park is part of The Palm - an entertainment resort in Dubai housing restaurants and boutiques. Its expansion next year will launch at the same time as The Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences.
