A woman who claims that her conditioner was allegedly tampered with and was actually mixed with hair removal cream has been forced to shave her head as it continued to fall out in large clumps.

And now concerned friends have set up a GoFundMe account to help with wigs, medical and legal costs.

Ashley Robinson, 21, picked up a bottle of Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume last month at her local Walmart in New Richmond, Wisconsin in the US, using the conditioner for the first time a few days later.

"She let the conditioner set for about 10 minutes while she went about other steps of showering before rinsing it out," wrote friends on her GoFundMe page.

However on exiting the shower, Ashley realized her hair had a foul odour so began washing it again, only to stand there helpless as her hair began falling out in massive clumps.

"It is believed that the conditioner was tampered with and someone put some sort of chemical depilatory cream inside of it, such as Nair or Veet," added her friends.

"It should be noted that Ashley lives alone and there is no way someone could have tampered with the product when it was in her home."

Following a visit to the emergency room, Ashley's scalp remained red and irritated, so she made a trip to the salon to hope that some extensions might do the trick.

Sadly not, though - the stylist explained that extensions would likely put too much tension on her hair so she was left with just one solution - to shave it all off.

"Hair is such a part of our personal identity and having to lose all of it without expectation or choice is an incredibly traumatic experience," it says on her page.

Taking to Facebook, Ashley revealed that she has been suffering anxiety attacks since she started losing her hair and doesn't want to go out in public.

"Anxiety attacks more than ever this evening. I'm scared, I don't wanna go out in public," she wrote.

"Tomorrow I go back to work and I'm very anxious, my emotions have never been so high. I love my job and people but I'm scared."

So far Ashley's GoFundMe has raised $1,515 (£1,250) and hundred have sent her messages of support.

She's also filed a police report, so let's hope the poor girl gets some clarity on what happened sooner rather than later.
