We've all been there. We get all excited about bringing home a new plant baby, we care for and nurture it but then a week later, poof - it's dead. Well one savvy mum has come up with a genius way of making your wilting plants look as good as new for just £3.99.

Gail Woollaston, 39, was so fed up with all her plants dying that she simply painted them green with spray paint bought from her local hardware store, much to the amusement of her children Kian, 11, and Aiva, 10.

Just check out these pictures - the plants look good as new!

Having posted her results online, the nursery worker from Kingstanding, Birmingham, was inundated with strangers praising her for coming up with such a great cost-effective solution for those who struggle with keeping their plants alive, and we can see why.

She said: "I thought my garden was looking a bit untidy so I decided to come up with my own solution and I think it worked!

"I am DIY obsessed - I up-cycle anything and this was going to be a fun experiment for me.

"I paid a lot of money for the plants and I didn't want to get rid of them - I had tried everything to bring them back to life but it wasn't working.

"The first time I tried it, I got the wrong paint so the plant looked too bright and fake but then I mixed two different colours together, and it turned out perfectly. My friends have said that they wouldn't have known any different!

"I think I might have started a trend. My kids are annoyed because my Facebook post has got more attention than their TikToks and I find it hilarious".

Thanks Gail - this is one trend we're most definitely going to be trying in this heatwave!
