Therapy dogs do such an important job. They help ease stress of people in nursing homes, schools, hospitals and so many other facilities, and bring joy to so many.

So it's only right that a bunch of Florida based pooches got to celebrate Thanksgiving like their human friends, with a festive feast.

Gathering her dogs for a photograph which soon went viral, Trish Gorry, 54, from Nokomis, Florida, got together with other rescue dog handlers who form part of Therapy K9s South West Florida, to celebrate the US harvest festival.

The dogs at dinner who make visits to those in need of comfort or affection, are made up of three Golden Retrievers, one Labrador, one Corgi and one King Charles Spaniel, all sat around a dinner table while dressed in traditional festive outfits.

How cute.

They were treated to a feast of doggy ice cream to mark the celebration.

But first, naturally, therapy dog handler Trish couldn't help but capture the doggos as they waited for their food, sharing a now viral snap on social media.

She said: "These dogs, alongside their handlers, work tirelessly every day to help other people - so it was about time we did something for them.

"We take the dogs everywhere - hospitals, nursing homes, courthouses and even to do reading programs with school children.

"The dogs are very well trained, so having them sit in traditional costumes and pose around the Thanksgiving table was easy.

"We all practised individually with our dogs at home to make sure they would sit and smile for the camera, and it only took one attempt to get this adorable photo!

"We gathered at a friends house and made a lovely Thanksgiving dinner for the humans and gave the pooches doggy ice-cream.

"We hope that this photo will bring joy to a lot of people's faces and brighten up their Thanksgiving."

It certainly made us that little bit happier - and we're sure the dogs enjoyed it too!
