Bones, skulls and coffins line the island - and visitors aren’t allowed.

In what could be the makings of a new Netflix horror show, there's an island off the UK coast where the remains of dozens of people who were buried more than 200 years ago are being slowly exposed.

Yikes!

Situated opposite Queenborough in Sheppey - just off the River Medway - we reckon this could be one of the most haunting spots in the UK, and even visitors are banned from stepping on shore.

Dubbed Deadman's Island, it earned its name after recent investigations found it littered with the human remains of convicts who were buried there after dying aboard prison ships more than 200 years ago.

Rising sea levels have caused the lost bodies of the 'prison hulk' boats just off Sheppy to be uncovered, and now wooden coffins, aged skulls and fragments of bones stick out from the six feet of mud that once blanketed the area.

Due to its bird breeding and nesting site, the island is completely out of bounds to the public, however in 2017, BBC's Inside Out South East programme took a boat across to investigate whether any of the rumours were actually true.

In case you were wondering, yes - they are.

Rising sea levels and coastal erosion over the years have begun to slowly wash away the bodies' final resting place, and in even scarier news, the remains are now being washed into the sea and will be difficult to rebury.

Director Sam Supple previously told The Sun: "It is like being on the set of a horror film.

"It looks so surreal, it's like an art department has designed it. There are open coffins and bones everywhere."

Presenter Natalie Graham added: "What I saw there will stay with me forever.

"This is a really strange sight. I would imagine there can't be anywhere on earth like this."

Aside from the dead bodies, locals have also warned travellers of hounds with glaring-red eyes that ate the heads of the buried bodies, a skin-crawling atmosphere and 'an island solely occupied by the dead".

This is one place we won't be visiting in a hurry!
