A nurse was shocked when her husband found a letter under her eight-year-old daughter's pillow detailing her fears about coronavirus.

Samantha Bowler, 35, from Coventry, had no idea her little one was concerned about the virus until her husband Stephen checked on little Roxy in the middle of the night and discovered the note tucked alongside her.

She'd written of her fears that 40-year-old Stephen could get the virus, because he's "old". Plus, she expressed concerns for Samantha because of her occupation.

The note read: "Coronavirus...I am worried about my mum and dad. 1. I am scared for my mum because she is a nurse and she could get it.

"2. My dad is old... trying to say it in a nice way. By Roxy. Help me fight back".

Recalling the discovery, Stephen said he found the note when popping in to check on Roxy and her sister Phoenix, five.

"I went to check on her and she had just fallen asleep I think," he said. "The note was left on her pillow right by her head.

"I picked it up and had a look. When I read it it brought on some mixed emotions.

"I was sad she was worried about it and then I laughed because she thought I was old."

Samantha added: "Roxy is a real thinker. She leaves lots of little notes around for us.

"She naturally worries about things but hadn't really said anything about it to us.

"It just melted my heart to be honest. I just felt sad for her that she was so worried about it.

"I wanted to reassure after I read it and tried to find out what she'd heard about the virus at school.

"She said she'd heard lots of stories and asked if people were going to be arrested if they went out if they had the virus.

"I told her we have to take it all day by day."
