The UK Is Set For Thunderstorms This Weekend

Buckle up for rain, clouds and storms.

Any hopes of a nice, sunny weekend after the last few days of sunshine have just been dashed after the Met Office confirmed the UK is set for thunderstorms this weekend.

After a week that saw temperatures hit 25.8C in Kinlochewe, Scotland on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Met Office has said today (Friday) is the last of any sunny conditions.

The warm weather will continue for lucky Scotland today, but the rest of the country will be stuck with cloudy skies and showers over the weekend. The Met Office have predicted "sunny intervals" with a temp of around 17C for Saturday.

For those of us in the south, central and east, Oli says we can look forward to "the most prevalent rain and showers" as well as storms this weekend: "there is a chance of thunderstorms over the weekend, although this is unpredictable and is most likely in the south and east".

However, it's not all doom and gloom - in early June, the north of England is going to enjoy sunshine and dry weather.

The best of the sunshine this weekend will be in the north and northwest. The Met Office says that generally, the weather is going to be "cooler than recently, and rather cloudy with patchy rain" today, with Saturday's weather unpredictable: "Elsewhere, warm sunshine will be interrupted by showers, some heavy."

Whatever the weather turns out to be this weekend, one thing appears to be for sure - you can't predict it at all. If you were planning on a BBQ or big walk this weekend, maybe give it a miss or drag out the anoraks if you're not keen to let the weather spoil your fun. That being said, hopefully any big storms now will lead to nice weather in June...fingers crossed eh! We can only hope.
