Kim Kardashian found herself in hot water on social media after she posted about celebrating her 40th birthday party on a private island.
The star, who turned 40 earlier this month, took to Twitter to tell fans how she managed to take "her closest inner circle" away for a lavish party after "multiple health screens" and two weeks of quarantine to celebrate her birthday away from Covid-19 regulations.
After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time. pic.twitter.com/cIFP7Nv5bV

Sharing snaps from the event, Kardashian added she was "humbly reminded of how privileged" she is.
While some fans of the star praised her for being open and honest about her celebrations, others criticised her for her tone-deaf post during the coronavirus pandemic.

"I lost four months of pay, still tied up with unemployment and have seen a significant drop in future earnings," came one response. "Glad you had fun."
"This is 40? That's great for you but I'm only 36 and feel like my body is falling apart and can't even go to the doctors because of COVID and the fact I'm too anxious to talk on the phone," another added.
"A real Marie Antoinette 'let them eat cake' moment," said a third. "Disgusting."
Jesus Christ Kim this might be the most tone deaf thing you've ever posted. People are dying, losing their incomes and starving right now.

Kardashian's apparent bragging about having a party only highlighted the suffering others had gone through.
"Cool, people have had to say goodbye to loved ones over the phone while they died alone in a hospital," someone said. "But neat trip to post all over social media while the world suffers. So humble and so down to earth, truly."

A second added: "Like, have a birthday trip but to post it all over social media right now is disgustingly tone deaf AT BEST."
While a third observed: "For Kim Kardashian, having enough money to do everything she wants doesn't suffice. She has to tell everyone."
