"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."
According to early reports, the former Suits actress is around 12 weeks pregnant, and the baby is due in spring next year.
Their child will be seventh in line to the throne.
The BBC reports that Harry and Meghan told the rest of the royal family about their baby news at Princess Eugenie's wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle three days ago.
The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are said to be 'delighted' for the couple.
All eyes have been on Harry and Meghan since they tied the knot in May, and speculation has been rife in recent days that the newlyweds were expecting their first child together just a few months after marrying.
On Friday, Meghan was spotted wearing a loose-fitting, long coat at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding, which only ramped up rumours that a new royal baby was on the way.
And as the happy couple arrived in Australia on Sunday for their first official tour since they got married, Meghan oddly carried purple folders in front of her stomach, with many people quickly putting two and two together.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
