The incident took place as passenger Wendi Williams travelled on an American Airlines flight from New Orleans, Louisiana to Charlotte, North Carolina.
In the clip, the man can be seen banging on the back of Wendi's chair while watching something on his mobile phone.
His seen hitting so hard that her seat was visibly shaking backwards and forwards.
This video has the internet legitimately divided .
Dude is in the last seat on the plane. Seat doesn't recline.
Hers does. And she reclines.
He's upset, and is punching her seat incessantly- so she records.
Who is right?!
Who is wrong?!

Taking to Twitter, Wendi wrote that the man had asked her to pull her seat up while he ate, and she obliged.
"When he finished eating, I reclined it again. Then the barrage of punches came. I didn't know you can't recline your seat! Why do they recline? Everyone else had theirs reclined," she said.
"He was angry that I reclined my seat and punched it about 9 times - HARD, at which point I began videoing him, and he resigned to this behaviour," she explained.
As the banging persisted, Wendi called over a flight attendant, who seemed to take the side of the male passenger by acknowledging that the space he had was 'tight'.
I was returning from a teachers' convention. The man asked me, with an attitude, to put my seat up because he was eating. I did. I then reclined it again when he was finished. At that point, he started hammering away at me. That's when I started videoing and tried to call the FA.

The assistant then asked Wendi to stop filming the scene, and later handed her a 'Passenger Disturbance Notice,' rather than handing him one.
Claiming she had done her best to deal with the situation 'quietly' on numerous occasions, the passenger revealed she'd 'lost time at work, had to visit a doctor, got x-rays, and [had] horrible headaches for a week' after the male passenger's actions.
She added: "I have no respect for 'men' who think punching a woman, through a seat or not, is defensible. AGAIN, it WAS punching, prior to the video. I posted this @AmericanAir and tried to get them to deal with their flight attendant and I wanted to deal with your boy on the ground, legally."
The airline allegedly contacted Wendi to apologise after the incident, but refused to take any responsibility for the flight attendant's response to it.
When the FA came. She rolled her eyes at me and said, "What?" She then told him it was tight back there and gave him rum! She told me I had to delete the video! It's against the law to video on a plane. I asked her name & She gave me a Passenger Disturbance Notice! https://t.co/zRwy5JYr9s

She has since threatened to contact the FBI in order to find the man who punched her chair, and press charges.
An American Airlines spokesman told Mirror Online: "We are aware of a customer dispute that transpired on American Eagle flight 4392, operated by Republic Airways on January 31. The safety and comfort of our customers and team members is our top priority, and our team is looking into the issue."
