Justin Bieber has denied accusations of sexual assault by two women which broke on social media over the weekend.

The singer, 26, took to Twitter on Sunday night to refute the claims, which are alleged to have taken place in March 2014 and May 2015 respectively.

One of the women - who cannot be named for legal reasons - posted about her alleged encounter with the star from an anonymous Twitter account on 20th June.

In her tweet, she claimed to have met Bieber at an Austin music event held by Scooter Braun (Bieber's manager) at Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden on 9th March 2014.

She went on the allege that a man invited her and her friends to meet the singer at the Four Seasons Hotel following the event.

While there, the woman - who was 21 at the time - claimed that Bieber took her to a separate room and sexually assaulted her following a consensual "make out session".

"Justin had made me agree to not say anything to anyone, or I can get in serious legal trouble," the woman wrote in her account of the evening. "He then asked me to join him in bed. That's when I asked myself, 'How in the world is this normal?'"

She continued: "I was very uncomfortable, and I felt myself starting to hyperventilate. I told him to get off because I was starting to worry about my friends, but it was too late."

Writing that she told the musician he was "going too far", the accuser said: "my body felt unconscious."

On the same day, 20th June, a second woman shared her own story of an alleged sexual assault by the musician in 2015.

Opening by saying that she believed her fellow claimant's account, she wrote: "On May 4th 2015 evening, I went to meet and possibly get a picture with Justin just like any other beliebers when he is in New York.

"From waiting in the evening till early morning of May 5, 2015, in New York City, I met Mikey (Justin's bodyguard) outside of the hotel. He found me attractive and gave me his phone number without taking mine."

The woman accompanied her post with screen grabs of messages alleged to be from Bieber's bodyguard, though these have not been verified.

She went on to claim that the Sorry singer had taken her into a hotel room and locked the door before sexually assaulting her.

"He asked me to come close, I started getting closer and he grabbed my hand and dragged/pulled me over to him," she wrote.

"I went to the restroom and he came behind following me and locked the door which was on the left of the bedroom. I asked what's going on - why did he lock the door. He said, 'I'll tell you.'

"He started kissing me, touching my body and caressing me. I asked him to stop and continued to say that I cannot have sex with anyone prior to marriage (traditional cultural thing) So Bieber started pushing me to the bed and have his body against mine.

"He pinned me down, pulled my leggings down, and his shorts and penetrated me (which is considered a very bad thing unless by the husband.) It aggravated me and I pushed him and kicked him between the legs and run out the living room."

The woman alleged that she had told her sister about the incident but that she told her to keep the story to herself.

She also claimed that in 2017 she tried to make contact with another girl who was in the same hotel room that night, in messages that she posted on Twitter. Again, the screen grabs have not been verified.

Bieber took to Twitter to address the allegations last night saying: "I don't normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight."

He vehemently denied the claims, saying: "Sexual abuse is something I don't take lightly", claiming that he'd been with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez on the night in question (9th March 2014) and sharing pictures of the two together after the concert.

He then shared a series of screen grabs and tweets which purportedly show that he had not been at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin that night.

Bieber added: "Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action."
