The house from the John Lewis Christmas advert is for sale and it sounds delightful tbh.

The six-bedroom property, a detached Victorian house in Kingston Upon Thames, featured in the high street department store's 2014 advert alongside Monty the penguin and is on the market for £2.7 million.

Need a reminder of the festive ad? Take a look here:

Set to the soundtrack of Tom Odell's Real Love, the festive offering follows a young boy and his imaginary friend, Monty the penguin, in the run-up to Christmas, as they play in the garden, watch TV and build lego in the hallway. We also see the duo venture to the park, decorate the Christmas tree together, draw and travel on the bus.

The cute clip finishes with the little boy taking Monty, a CGI penguin, downstairs on Christmas Day to find his present. We definitely shed a tear when we saw that Monty's "gift" was a mate. And then we're shown that the CGI penguin is in fact a well-loved toy and his new mate is a fluffy penguin from the department store. And we're blubbing.

The impressive property was kitted out with furniture from John Lewis and repainted for the filming of the advert.

The owner, who does not want to be named, told Metro: "They emptied the drawing room and painted it that deep John Lewis green."

An animatronic Monty was also used for the filming, which took two weeks, and swapped out for a CGI version in the final clip.

The owner adds: "I have seven grandchildren and two of them lived nearby so they came over during the filming. They first thought I'd had real penguins in the house. I did, finally tell them the truth."

The house has been in the same family for 40 years and retains all its original fittings, including some old fireplaces.

Owned by one couple who brought up their three children there, the house shot to fame when it appeared in the festive advert six years ago, but it's not the only time it's featured on TV. The farmhouse-style kitchen has also been used for the Junior Bake Off TV advert.

Less than a minute from the river and within a conservation area, the spacious house features high ceilings and wide hallways. The 3,582sq ft property boasts five bedrooms on the first floor and a second floor that's the ideal space for a yoga or pilates studio. Not to mention the beautiful walled garden that also appears in the Christmas advert.

"The greatest pleasure has been bringing up our family in this beautiful house," adds the owner. "I hope another family will move in and love it as much as we do."

The house is for sale for £2.7 million, through Hamptons.
