The reunion is going to be emotional!

The time has come, guys - Greggs is opening 800 stores this week and we've never been more excited for a sausage roll.

The bakery chain will reopen the stores - following three months of closure - on Thursday 18th June.

As we know, Greggs trialled a number of stores earlier this month and it seems to have been a success, with the bakeries testing out new safety measures, so that they're ready to go when the time comes to reopen.

The 800 shops will be open for takeaway and will feature special floor markings to ensure social distancing, protective screens at counters, PPE for staff and more frequent cleaning.

There'll also be a reduced menu (don't worry, all the favourites are set to be included!) and customers will be encouraged to pay by contactless rather than cash.

"In line with this plan we intend to re-open around 800 shops to takeaway customers later this week, on Thursday 18 June," said Greggs.

"All team members are being trained in the range of operational changes and protective measures that we have implemented across our retail estate, including".

The bakery chain closed all of its 2,050 stores on 24th March, following the government's lockdown announcement.

While the 800 locations are yet to be revealed, it's expected the remaining bakeries will reopen in July - so if your local hasn't made the list, it shouldn't be too long to wait!

It comes after a number of food outlets, including McDonald's and Nando's have been reopening their doors for takeaway and delivery.

Fans have been descending on McDonald's in particular, with huge queues for restaurant drive thrus as people waited in line for their long awaited Big Mac.

We're so glad Greggs is back, we have been wondering how long we would be able to cope without a Greggs sausage roll tbh...
