Police Are Looking For A Theresa May Lookalike Who Stole A Woman's Purse From A Shop

Police in Hereford are hunting for a grey-haired thief that bears an unfortunate resemblance to Theresa May.

The West Mercia Police service posted an appeal to find the suspect after one woman had her wallet pinched while out shopping on the morning of 11^th December.

CCTV footage has since been released by the force in a bid to catch the wanted woman.

But the suspect's short grey haircut and red jacket saw some people compare the wanted woman to the former Prime Minister.

After the images were uploaded on social media, people were quick to crack jokes about Theresa May having fallen on hard times after resigning from high office in 2019.

Graeme Whittaker wrote on Facebook: "Bizarrely the following post shows a photo of Theresa May and it looks just like her especially the hair and red jacket."

Steve O'Callaghan added: "Looks like Theresa May fell on tough times after the Brexit fallout."

Tim West commented: "Oh Theresa, surely times aren't that hard. I'm sure Boris and his chums would lend you a fiver."

Larry Donovan said: "There's a striking resemblance there to our former PM. Lol."

Elsewhere, Andy Boast compared the suspect to the German Chancellor and put: "I think it's Angela Merkel."

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for information and releasing a CCTV image following a theft inside a Hereford store.

"On Friday 11 December at around 10.30am, a woman had been in the store on Whitecross Road when it is understood that she left her wallet on the counter before leaving.

"At around the same time it is believed another woman put a newspaper on top of the wallet and then took both the paper and wallet. She then left the shop.

"We are appealing to anyone who may recognise the woman pictured in the CCTV image to get in touch with us as she may be able to help with our enquiries.

"Anyone with information is asked to report it online here or call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting crime reference 22/105107/20.

"Alternatively, information can be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."

For those of you wondering what our former PM is up to now, Theresa is still in politics as a Tory backbencher, and is the MP for Maidenhead.

And while she does occasionally get up to no good running through fields of wheat, she's highly unlikely to be robbing purses.

Still, it's a pretty funny picture.
