We're Finally Seeing Signs Of Spring As Met Office Says Weather Is On The Up

After a cold and blustery week, finally some cracks of sunshine. Say hello to Spring!

Last week, Brits experienced some serious weather across parts of the UK as 48 flood warnings were issued. The Environmental Agency had its team out installing flood defences, while parts of Wales saw half a month's rain in the space of a day.

In North Yorkshire, there was even an incident with a flock of sheep having to be rescued from 3ft of water after their field flooded. But alas, don't fear, as the Met Office is reporting that the sunshine is set to return later this week for our first touch of spring - just in time for Spring Equinox on Wednesday.

Temperatures may even hit 17C and remain there for the rest of the weekend, saying goodbye to the cold, wet and blustery weekend we've just had.

Luke Miall, Met Office meteorologist said that although there might be small outbreaks of rain across the nation, the rest of the country will stay dry with temperatures increasing.

"For most of us it won't be as cold on Monday night as it was through Sunday evening," he explained.

This past weekend saw weather that slowed down planes at key airports and closed down a newly opened £8 million police station after gale force winds damaged the roof (to name just a couple of incidents), although it sounds like things are finally warming up.

But this is not before we get a visit from 'hell storm Hannah'.

However according to former BBC forecaster John Hammond, this will be short-lived.

"After a wild wintry week, the calm after the storms will see spring re-emerge," he said.

Needless to say, we can't wait for spring to arrive.
