Netflix who? Apple has just announced the bargain cost of its streaming service launching in November.

The long-awaited Apple TV+ streaming service finally has a start date of November 1st and the announcement of its launch in over 100 countries (including the UK), comes along with the very pleasing news that it will cost just £4.99.

We're sure you've read our recent article about Netflix hiking its prices, even for its loyal existing users, so this new update that Apple's alternative will cost a slice of the price is no doubt music to your ears. It certainly was ours.

The £4.99 per month fee will come after a seven day free trial period (you need to check you are digging it first after all) and it will allow six members to access it through family sharing.

In comparison, Netflix is now charging customers £5.99 for just a basic membership, which allows viewing on just a single device in standard definition.

If you want two people to access your account and watch shows in HD, you'd need to upgrade to a standard subscription, or for four log ins, the premium subscription is essential.

Both subscriptions come at a higher cost though, with standard increasing by £1 to £8.99 and the premium hiked by £2 to £11.99.

Netflix say that despite the price change, it remains "great value for money compared to other options on offer in the UK".

But with the news that Apple+ is going to set users back just £4.99 and with Disney+ on its way (hopefully soon to the UK) for just $6.99 (roughly £5.50), we beg to differ.

Making its offer even more attractive, Apple is offering anyone from now who purchases an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac, a free one year subscription to Apple TV+.

Maybe we can stretch to a MacBook after all...

Zack Van Amburg, Apple's head of Worldwide Video commented on the service: "With Apple TV+, we are presenting all-original stories from the best, brightest and most creative minds, and we know viewers will find their new favourite show or movie on our service.

"Each Apple TV+ original offers its own unique story, fresh perspective and powerful message - all meant to entertain, connect and inspire cultural conversations."

The brand is set to launch original shows, movies and documentaries, including: The Morning Show, Dickinson, See, For All Mankind and The Elephant Queen.

A Netflix spokesperson said of its price hike: "We change our prices from time to time to reflect the significant investments we've made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product."

They added: "We have more than 50 productions planned in the UK this year, including new seasons of Black Mirror, Sex Education and After Life."

Although the lure of the new seasons of all our favourite shows are very tempting, the boat at Netflix has well and truly been rocked.

Forbes said that since the announcement of Apple+, Netflix shares fell over 3 per cent, while Disney stock dropped more than 2 per cent. The stats speak for themselves, with clear predictions Netflix will lose customers.
