Chrissy Teigen has accidentally revealed footage from a practice of her husband John Legend's upcoming performance at Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday.

The footage Chrissy leaked gave her 13.5m Twitter followers a glimpse behind-the-scenes of the event. Chrissy simply captioned the video with: "John! I'm going to cry".

Check it out below:

Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States in Washington, D.C. after winning the 2020 election against outgoing president, Donald Trump.

Chrissy Teigen posted a series of behind-the-scenes shots on her Instagram and Twitter accounts, showing her and husband John at the soundcheck for his performance.

Chrissy also posted pictures of the couple posing with the National Guard at the Capitol. She wrote in the caption: "We got lost on the way to soundcheck but stumbled across these literal f*cking heroes!!"

She later followed-up the pictures with a tweet suggesting John's performance was intended to be a surprise. She said: "LMAO apparently that was all supposed to be a secret and I got scolded so act surprised tomorrow I'm crying". Oops.

Earlier this month, the Capitol was stormed by a mob of supporters for Trump in an attempt to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. The riot led to the evacuation and lockdown of the Capitol and five deaths.

The riot led to the suspension of Trump's social media accounts and he became the first US president to be impeached twice. There will be heightened security for Biden's inauguration as a result.

Chrissy posted the pictures after she responded to backlash on Twitter, with many users criticising the family's decision to attend the inauguration in-person amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Some users criticised John for performing in-person instead of virtually.

One person tweeted: "Hey Chrissy DC residents aren't very "happy" right now and can't even "happy pack" their cars to drive to the grocery store because of the military state the city is in but yeah LOL come on down especially in a pandemic. How happy!!!"

Chrissy responded: "This is not my fault but I'm sorry you're frustrated. I just like to share what we are up to and whatnot."

Other performers lined up for Biden's inauguration includes Lady Gaga - who will sing The Star Spangled Banner following the swearing in of the ceremony.

Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons and Jon Bon Jovi are all set to perform virtually.

"They [Gaga and Lopez] represent one clear picture of the grand diversity of our great nation," Biden's team said in a statement, noting Lady Gaga's advocacy of LGBTQ issues and Lopez for representing the Latino community.

Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry and Foo Fighters are also booked for an evening TV special.
