We've heard of tennis courts, cinemas, theatres and swimming pools on board cruise liners, but Carnival Cruise Line is set to take the sailing experience to a whole new level by launching a cruise ship complete with a rollercoaster.

Yes, you read that right.

Set to launch in 2022, Carnival Celebration is the company's second Excel-class ship, and just like its sister ship Mardi Gras (due to be unveiled in 2021), she will feature BOLT, an exhilarating onboard rollercoaster.

Brainchild of Munich-based company Maurer, the open-air course set high above sea is sure to be a huge draw for thrill-seekers looking for a new adrenaline rush. In an exciting twist, riders can actually control how fast they go, so we imagine plenty of friendly competition - especially as speeds are posted on a board after the race.

Would you take on this rollercoaster? (

The name of the ship, which was unveiled on social media this week by a number of Carnival's celebrity partners including TV presenter Kathie Lee Gifford, restaurateur Guy Fieri and basketball star Shaquille O'Neal, was chosen as the launch will coincide with the line's 50th birthday celebrations in 2022

The company has yet to reveal details of which itineraries she will sail, although they have said this is due to be announced "over the coming weeks", with sailings going on sale from October 2020.

Passengers who want to be the first to hear details about the itineraries and prices can already register (for free) on the Carnival website.

Keep in mind that right now, the FCO advises against cruise ship travel, but fingers crossed this will have changed by the time Carnival Celebration sets sail in 2020.

She'll depart from Florida, so we'll be there as soon as we can!
