If Cameron Diaz taught us anything in The Holiday, it's that jumping on a plane and running away from your heartache will absolutely always lead to Jude Law knocking on your door.

Okay, okay. We're not that naive. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to escape it all in the wake of a break up, even if only for some time to process it all and enjoy some 'me time'?

Well, now you might be able to do just that, as one accommodation provider is offering the chance for one recently heartbroken individual to enjoy a free staycation in their picturesque country cottage in the Cotswolds over Christmas.

Whether you've been broken up with, ended a painful relationship or suffered unrequited love for somebody who doesn't feel it back, you fit the criteria to enter Independent Cottages' Christmas competition, and could be in for a chance of a free three-night stay at Farthing Cottage.

As was the case for Cameron and Kate Winslet's characters in the iconic festive movie, the trip will only be for one person, so you have to be fully prepared to spend some quality time on your own.

Upon arrival on the three day vacation, you'll be gifted a bottle of fizz and some chocolates, and then you'll be left to your own devices to enjoy the Christmassy cottage and its stunning surroundings however you please - be it sobbing in bed, binge-watching telly or exploring the area 'til your heart's content.

This traditional cottage boasts a cosy log burning fire much like Diaz's character Amanda's did, as well as a four-poster bed, antique pine furniture, exposed ceiling beams, stone walls and heaps of old English character.

It's also just a short walk from the quaint English market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, where there's a selection of delightful gastropubs, restaurants and independent boutiques nearby for a spot of Christmas shopping.

And who knows, maybe you'll even bump into your own Jude Law while browsing the aisles?
