Tributes have been flooding in for Halyna Hutchins, who has tragically died after Alec Baldwin accidentally fired off a prop gun on the set of Rust.
Halyna, director of photography on the movie, was aged just 42. The film's director, Joel Souza, 48 was also injured in the freak accident which took place at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe.
Local police confirmed Alex Baldwin had been questioned but no charges have been made.
Ever since the devastating news was announced, tributes have been pouring in from Hollywood, with many stars reacting on Twitter.
Director James Gunn wrote: "My greatest fear is that someone will be fatally hurt on one of my sets. I pray this will never happen. My heart goes out to all of those affected by the tragedy today on Rust, especially Halyna Hutchins & her family."
Meanwhile Joe Manganiello added: "I’m in shock. I was so lucky to have had Halyna Hutchins as my DP on Archenemy. An incredible talent & great person. I can’t believe this could happen in this day and age… gunfire from a prop gun could kill a crew member? What a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to her family."
Alex Winter said: "Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Halyna Hutchins. Crew should never be unsafe on set and when they are there is always a clearly definable reason why."
Liz Jenkins added: "RIP Halyna Hutchins. I’ve worked on a few shows with guns involved and the safety protocols were so intense they ALMOST seemed excessive. There has to be better way. This is senseless."
A spokesperson for the film said: "The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones.
"We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation."
Our thoughts are with Halyna's family and friends at this devastating time.
