People who have been following the tragic story of Gabby Petito have today been rushing to defend her father, Joseph Petito, after he was criticised for 'not crying' during her memorial speech.

In the heartfelt speech, Joseph spoke about memories he has with his daughter, her caring nature and brilliant personality.
But sadly, some people on social media have criticised Joseph for 'not crying' with one person shockingly calling the incident 'a hoax' while another said: "I don't hear any emotion at all."
Following the trolling, those who have been following the case were quick to defend Joseph, offering their condolences and support.
One person wrote on TikTok: "I never cried at either of my parents' funerals, grief hits different for everyone, stop bashing someone who just lost their child."
While another said: "I spoke at my dad's funeral and didn't cry. He's probably in shock."
And a third added: "People on tiktok are crazy imagine bashing Gabby Petito’s dad online because he wasn’t crying during her memorial speech?
"Have people not heard of shock?"
At the funeral, which took place on Sunday in Long Island, Joseph urged others to take inspiration from Gabby.
“If there is a relationship that you’re in that might not be the best thing for you, leave it now. Take care of yourself first,” he said.
“I would like you to take a look at these videos and I want you to be inspired by them. If there’s a trip you guys want to take, take it now. Do it now while you have the time.”
Identification of Gabby's body was made earlier this week - in Bridger–Teton National Forest in Wyoming - with a coroner confirming that her death is a suspected homicide but the cause is still unknown.
Brian Laundrie - who remains a person of interest in the case - is still missing.
When reporting him missing, Laundrie's parents claimed not to have seen him in over a week, and officers began searching a national park in Florida for him, but couldn't find any evidence that he had been there.
Gabby's family reported her missing after they stopped hearing from her back in August.
The 22-year-old had been living in the camper-van while travelling across the States with Laundrie, and documenting their journey on social media.
But Laundrie returned home without her at the beginning of September, before subsequently going missing himself.
