Picking noses, throwing tantrums - there are many ways kids can liven up a wedding and make the photos more fun. But a mum and bride was recently left red-faced when her innocent-looking little girl gave the middle finger as the professional photos were being taken for her big day.

33-year-old mum-of-four, Hannah Earley, had organised a professional photographer to capture some key moments to remember her special day.

Hannah, from Old Bar, New South Wales, Australia, was looking forward to getting her whole family together for some wedding day photographs when she married her now husband Nathan Earley, 31, in November 2018.

But as the family were standing in their finest clothes ready to be snapped, her three-year-old and youngest daughter, Maddison, decided it was the perfect opportunity to show off her 'new trick' and popped her middle finger up to the camera.

This certainly made the snap unforgettable, but not quite for the reasons mum Hannah was hoping.

Hannah explained: "It was a beautiful day and I was so excited about the wedding. I'd hired a photographer to take some photos of everyone.

"At that point, we'd just had the ceremony, and then we decided to go off to the side to have some family photos taken.

"All of a sudden she just popped it up to show everyone. There were lots of people standing around watching her, so I think she just thought why not do it.

"She had learned that little trick just a few days before but had no idea what it meant. But she knew that she would get a strong reaction from it.

"All my wedding guests who were watching us get the photos done started cracking up laughing. I'll never forget it."

While the image was deleted by the professional photographer, Hannah's sister, Sharon, luckily been snapping away from the sidelines the entire time and managed to capture the moment on camera from a slightly different angle.

Hannah, a community strengthening officer, explained that the 'whole family', including her three older children, cracked up when they saw what their little sister had done.

Madison saw a family friend making the obscene gesture a few days before the wedding and started mimicking.

The three-year-old did the same during a picture with her family at her sister Halle's graduation from day care - just two weeks after the wedding photo was captured.

Hannah knows that Maddison had "absolutely no idea" what the gesture meant, but said she must have thought it was funny because of people's strong reactions.

Four months on Madison has stopped putting her middle finger up and mum admitting she's "relieved" that she's kicked the habit.

She said: "She did it for nearly a month straight. It was funny but I'm glad she's stopped doing it now.

"It was really hard not to have a giggle, but I didn't want her to think it was okay. I had to always turn away from her and laugh so she wouldn't see me.

"Everyone thought it was hilarious. It is definitely something to remember.

"She is such a character and is very outgoing. She makes me laugh every day.

"It will be funny for all of us to look back on one day when she is older."
