M&S has announced plans to start a home delivery food service by next year, and bagging your dine in for £12 has never been easier.

In a joint venture with Ocado, M&S will now deliver groceries from its food hall to your door, just like other supermarkets do.

Marks and Sparks will pay Ocado £750m for a 50 per cent share of the UK business.

And it looks like the new delivery plans will be rolled out at the latest by September 2020 when Ocado's deal with Waitrose expires.

Under the deal Ocado will also continue to supply its own-label products and big name branded goods.

M&S' CEO, Steve Rowe, said of the venture: "Our partnership with Ocado will create shared value for our customers, colleagues, supplier partners and shareholders, operating with a common sense of purpose and values," he said.

"This is a transformational step forward in shaping the future of M&S and in becoming a truly digital first retailer with at least a third of the business online."

And Tim Steiner, Ocado's chief executive, described the deal as a "transformative moment in the UK retail sector with the combination of two iconic and much-loved retail brands set to provide an unrivalled online grocery offer".

He added: "We believe that this is the best outcome for customers, offering even greater range, service, quality and value.

"The combination of the qualities of Ocado and M&S will allow us to grow faster, add more jobs and create more value, as we lead the channel shift to e-commerce in the UK. We are very excited by the many opportunities ahead."

It is thought that the plans are being rolled out to help Marks and Spencer bring in more money, as well as open up the options for its customers.
