Primark has announced plans to open some of its branches for 24 hours when the national lockdown lifts next week.

The fashion giant is set to open 11 stores for 24 hours, starting from 7am on 2nd December, in a bid to give sales a much-needed boost in the run-up to Christmas.

Primark also confirmed that stores in retail parks and major shopping centres will trade until 10pm "at a minimum" over the festive period, with some stores trading as late as midnight.

All other stores across England will trade until at least 8pm on weekdays until 23rd December.

Non-essential shops across England were forced to close their doors again earlier this month to halt the spread of covid-19 in time for the festive break.

Primark's CEO, Paul Marchant, said: "We are delighted to re-open our stores in England on 2 December, with longer shopping hours to give our customers more time to safely do their festive shopping.

"We have everything this season that our customers expect from Primark, including our famous Christmas jumpers, festive pyjamas and much, much more.

"All of our extensive safety measures remain in place to help ensure shopping at Primark is an enjoyable, safe experience for everyone."
